Why should we donate troops ?

How to donate troops ?

The first mission in this game is to rebuild your castle ruin
Castle-0 resize
and found or join a clan.

Once players join a Clan they have the ability to "Request Troops" once every 20 minutes (or faster if they use Request now using Gems).

Wait until someone requests troops, then there is a button in the clan chat under the request, to donate simply click this button and choose wich troop you want to donate.

Also, players can add a message to tell other players what Troops they would like. Other Clan members will see the request in the Clan Chat window and can donate a maximum of 5 Troops to the Clan Castle. Players can use these Troops during battle, and they will also defend the base when a player is offline.

How to request troops ?

just click on your clan castle and click on the request troops icon below.

here you may specify what to request clicking into the box

Why should we donate troops ?

What are the pros of donating? Do I loose troops when I donate? I notice some folks in the clan don't donate and others are more generous. is the idea to fill your own castle with donated troops?

Most clans want you to be active so if you donate to your clan, they're more inclined to donate to you. You do loose troops, you can literally see your troops walking out of your screen, but you can easily train more. Troops will come out to defend when someone is attacking you or you can deploy your troops in battle, they are pretty useful, good for defending and raiding. It's just like 'I scratch your back, you scratch mine' if you donate, they will donate to you too:)

There are two reasons for people to donate, attacking and defending. Defending is the most popular. The most requested troop for the clan castle is Archers. Barbarians work the same. Here's why. With a full clan castle of archers (say 20-25 archers) the attack power is 400-500 hit points per second. That's higher than any defensive building. Each archer might have lower overall health than a giant, but with a clan castle full of giants you will only get 4 or 5 troops. If you get attacked by 50 archers or barbarians they all target one troops at a time. So with 50 troops against 1 giant they will demolish your clan castle troops within 4-5 seconds. If your clan castle is full or archers or barbarians it will increase this time to 20-25 seconds. With this extra time it gives your defensive building 4-5 times longer to eliminate the enemy troops. Keep this in mind next time you request or donate.
Once you have clan castle lvl3, the best defense is a Dragon, though it could be killed easily if triggered out by the archers.
  • Players receive experience points for each troop they donate. The number of experience points earned depends on the housing space of the troops donated, for example; donating 1 Archer earns 1xp whereas a Giant will earn 5xp and a Dragon 20xp or a Golem 30xp. Players can donate a maximum of 5 troops per request.
  • Every housing unit of troops donated counts towards the "Friend in Need" achievement and you'll get gems and xp points for that as shown below:
Donate 100 Clan Castle capacity worth of reinforcements:
10 / 5
Donate 5,000 Clan Castle capacity worth of reinforcements:
100 / 25
Donate 25,000 Clan Castle capacity worth of reinforcements:
1,000 / 250

Consider that the following castle levels have a different troop capacity:

Clan Castle1
     Castle lvl1
     (10 troops)
(1Valkyrie=2Hogriders=2Giants=10Barbarians/Archers=5Minions,=2Wizards)

Clan Castle2
    Castle lvl2
                                             (15 troops)
                         (15Archers=3Giants=1Witch=1Healer)

Clan Castle3

Castle lvl3
                                           (20 troops)
                               (1Dragon=4Giants=20Archers)

Clan Castle4

Castle lvl4
                                            (25 troops)                                                                          (1Pekka=5Giants=2Witches)

Clancastle5 100
Castle lvl5
                                           (30 troops)
                                            (1Golem)

I would recomend always donating. Especially if you have a shield and cannot attack, you can donate more costly troops like wizards or giants. If you are in a hurry or anytime really, I would recomend archers. Everyone likes it in their clan castle. Donating a lot will get you respect and you will not only get more troops from others, but also better ones. For example, when I first joined my clan I tried to donate as often as possible and, so enough, they started giving me lvl 5 wizards and lvl 3 dragons. So, always donate whenever possible.

Try to donate at least as many as you receive, if not more. Of course, not everyone can donate more than they receive.

First thing you should when joining a clan is donate, donate and donate some more!

Don't join a clan and immediately request donations, experienced players will not give them to you and it makes you look bad.

Many clans require a minimum amount of donations per season (2 weeks) or week to stay member and maybe another minimum to get and keep elder. Just because you reach the minimum doesn't mean you can keep requesting troops and not donating any.

The Golden Rule is: if you want people to donate to you, then donate to them!

If people ask for certain units, then give them that unit or don't give them anything at all. You only have so much space in your clan castle, and they may want a particular type of unit for a particular style of play.
I know, newbies particularly, don't really think of all these things, but its really annoying to more advanced players

General hints on donating:
  • If a clanmate donates a Healer and you are attacked, the Healer will start to heal damaged buildings. Note that the Healer will still need to be triggered normally by enemy Troops coming within range of the Clan Castle (12 tiles).
  • Defensive units that survive an attack, regardless of their health level, will return to the Clan Castle at full health (if deployed offensively, they will need to be replaced regardless of whether they survive or not).
  • Your safest bet when donating is to simply donate archers, they are useful when both attacking and defending and are extremely versatile.
  • If you donate a giant to your clan mates, I'm sure they appreciate the gesture as giants take quite awhile to train, but they work poorly in defense and take up valuable space in the clan castle.
  • Similarly, wall breakers and goblins are viewed poorly as reinforcement troops as well. Wall breakers are useless for defense and goblins are not very useful for attacking and defending from the clan castle because of the slow deployment. A lot of players do not play as OF's, therefore goblins are totally useless to them, your better off never donating goblins to anyone, ever!
  • Balloons in your clan castle might look cool but these air units are terrible at defending as they need to be directly above a target to attack it.
  • If you don't have what was requested, tell them you only have these type of troops and ask if you can give them, and wait for their response.
  • Always thank whoever donated troops to you by name and acknowledge their thank you messages as well.
